What was the highlight of Mercure Palermo Centro Hotel

A nice weekend in Palermo

Our room was in another building, the rooms were comfortable. The batroom was large and newly renovated. However, the building was old, the elevators were old and scary. There was a bad smell in the bathroom, certainly from the old pipes in the building. The shampoos were from the brand Nuxe. The location was convenient for all attractions.

Breakfast was somehow poor, as the hotel is big and crowded, all the tables were full and we had to wait in a queue for coffee.

Good localization, good price for a short stay. The room was cosy and confortable. Good breakfasts.

It was very hot in the rooms. However, the air condition coundn't be put on because it was winter, as they told me at the reception... seems strange to me. We asked for an iron, but nobody ever brought it to the room.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was varied and fresh. The rooms are large and comfortable. Overall, a newly updated, modern and conveniently located property in the center of Palermo.

The smell of sewage running from the ground floor, around the elevator, was disgusting. The smell extended to my room on the second floor and my room stunk. I had to open the windows all day and freeze or put up with the smell. I complained several times and an employee checked the toilet but couldn't do much. The smell was not originating in my toilet, it had to be associated with a bigger issue and should be resolved as otherwise a beautiful property, such as Mercure, will end up losing customers. The breakfast area has a step down that can be tricky and should perhaps be redesigned as a ramp, just for safety as otherwise, every time you go to the breakfast table you run the risk of falling despite the signs around it. Also, the cappuccino they serve is too weak. They should offer a stronger coffee bean as it tasted like milk with coffee and not like cappuccino -- Lavazza coffee is certainly one of the best coffees but not used at this property. I'll check this property again soon and hope that issues are resolved so I can rate it five stars.

Wonderful

Very spacious and clean room. Everything looked like it was brand new. Palermo is rather noisy city, but I didn’t hear anything during the night.

I liked everything about my stay, except the breakfast. Too much of cakes and little variety in breads.

The location of the hotel near by the city centre

Hotel room wasn’t in the same building, it was in the building across the street. The room we requested was a queen bed and when we got in the room it was two single bed. They kindly offered a drink while they were fixing the issue. The edge of the shower were broken, while taking a shower the bathroom got all floor wet. Also the the bathroom door got issues and it got broken. They fixed in the day. The staff wasn’t pleasant, kinda appeared judgy (gay couple). The interns of the room were very modern. Breakfast isn’t included, but it’s very generous and good.

Nice to come back to fresh towels and a made bed without asking for it.

10:30 checkout. Very small shower. Any elderly person would have struggled squeezing past the wash basin to get up into the shower. The bathroom was big though overall
